Live Session

From invoice to payment: the future of construction payments

📅 Thursday 24 September 2026 | 2.30pm - 3.30pm BST

Can’t make it live? Register and we’ll send you the recording.

Join us to find out what the e-Invoicing mandate, the Commercial Payments Bill and the Fair Payment Code could mean for contractors, housebuilders and their supply chains.

Individually, each is a compliance item to track. Together, they add up to something bigger: a fundamental shift in how contractors and housebuilders need to manage invoicing and supply chain relationships.

This isn't a technical deep-dive into any single change. It's a candid, fireside discussion bringing government, industry and policy perspectives together to answer the question finance and procurement leaders are really asking: what should we be doing now to get ahead of this?

Why attend?

Join the dots - understand how all three changes connect

Direct perspectives - hear from DBT and the Small Business Commissioner's office

Cut through the proposals – get clarity on what's confirmed versus what's still moving through Parliament

Practical next steps – leave with actions for gaining visibility and control over invoicing and payment processes

Ask what matters to you – chance to put your own questions to the panel

Is this session built for your team?

This session is built for the people in construction finance and procurement who carry responsibility for how invoices move through the business and how suppliers get paid.

You'll come away with:

  • A joined-up understanding of the mandate, the Bill and the Fair Payment Code – rather than three separate compliance threads to track

  • A realistic view of what these changes will and won't fix, so you can plan without overcommitting to any single initiative

  • Practical questions to take back to your own team about visibility, disputes and accountability in your current processes

  • Direct access to government and industry perspectives you won't get from a policy briefing alone

If invoicing, payment compliance or supplier relationships sit anywhere near your remit, this discussion is built for you.

What happens if I can't attend live?

Register anyway - Causeway will send the full recording to everyone who signs up, whether or not you join on the day.

What's the difference between the e-Invoicing mandate and the Commercial Payments Bill?

The e-Invoicing mandate is confirmed and sets requirements for how invoices are issued and processed. The Commercial Payments Bill is separate legislation still progressing through Parliament, targeting payment terms and behaviour.

Who is speaking at this session?

Tim Cole (Causeway), Emma Jones (Small Business Commissioner) and Fergus Harradence (Department for Business and Trade) will cover the regulatory landscape and the construction-specific reality.

Is this webinar only relevant to large contractors?

No. It's built for anyone in construction finance or procurement responsible for invoicing, supplier payments or payment disputes - including housebuilders and their supply chains.
